Research on Ionrich hydrogen water health benefits (Research in Japan)
The purpose
A study compared hydrogen water with plain water to determine if hydrogen water can increase antioxidant capacity, reduce oxidative stress, and improve immune function.
Participants
During the trial, 50 healthy adults between the ages of 20 and 59 were randomly assigned to the plain water group (n=25) or the hydrogen water group (n=25).
When the study began, there were no statistically significant differences in age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and daily water intake between the two groups at the time of baseline
Two groups were given water
In this study, participants consumed 2.5 liters of plain water or hydrogen water daily for four weeks. Hydrogen water is water that has been infused with hydrogen gas (H2). Several bottles of water containing dissolved hydrogen were provided to participants. They were instructed to drink them within one hour of opening them to minimize the loss of dissolved hydrogen.
Outcome after 4 week
Researchers measured the following outcomes:
· Based on the measurement of serum biological antioxidant potential (BAP), the antioxidant level is increasing in blood.
· Oxidative stress level reduced in blood and lipids profile via reducing scavanging of reactive oxygen (RoS).
· The cell death reaction is under control in the hydrogen water group. Overall Ionrich hydrogen water reduces the apoptotic cells n the blood.
· Ionrich hydrogen water reduces the Inflammation bio-markers NF-кB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells signaling.
Based on our observations, the following conclusions were drawn:
· A significant increase in BAP (biological antioxidant potential) was observed in participants aged over 30 in the hydrogen water group and in comparison to participants aged under 30 in the plain water group. However, there was no significant difference in BAP in the hydrogen water group compared to plain water in younger individuals.
· There was a significant decrease in a marker for DNA damage associated with oxidative stress in the hydrogen water group as compared to the plain water group
· Compared to the plain water group, the Ionrich hydrogen water group showed significantly lower levels of apoptosis after 4 weeks
· In the Ionrich hydrogen water group, the frequency of CD14+ cells (CD14+ cells are beneficial for immunity, making the immune system stronger) is higher compared to the plain water group.
· The Ionrich hydrogen water group had significantly lower expression levels of several cytokines. Ionrich Hydrogen water helps to increase mortality of interleukins. Interleukins play a very important role in the growth of immune system cells and further divide quickly. Overall, Ionrich hydrogen water helps to increase tumor necrosis factor receptor (these cells are helpful in controlling tumor cells) compared to the plain water group.
